Properties:
Cedarwood oil is yellowish-orange in colour. It has a soft and woody smell and has a high viscosity.

Origin:
It originated in North America.

Extraction Method:
It is extracted with the help of steam distillation.

Chemical composition:
Cadinene, Cedrol, Cedrene and Cedrenol.

Therapeutic properties:
antiseptic, astringent, diuretic, expectorant, insecticide, fungicide, sedative and tonic.

Uses:

  1. Cedarwood essential oil benefits the skin by its sedating ability and thus relieves itching.
  2. It is used as an astringent and is good for acne, oily skin and hair care.
  3. It helps with urinary and chest infections.
  4. It acts as a general tonic.
  5. It soothes our nerves and is helpful in anxiety.
  6. It also helps in cases of arthritis and rheumatism.

Precautions:

  • If used in high cocentrations, can irritate skin.
  • It should not be used during pregnancy.

Blends well with:

Bergamot, Benzoin, Cinnamon, Cypress, Frankincense, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender, Lemon, Neroli, Rose and Rosemary.
