Properties:
Citronella essential oil has a slightly sweety lemony odour.

Origin:
It originated in Sri Lanka and Java.

Extraction Method:
It is extracted from the botanical matter using steam distillation.

Chemical composition:
Borneol, Citronellic, Citronellol, Citral, Citronellal, Camphene, Dipentene, Geraniol, Nerol and Limonene.

Therapeutic properties:
antiseptic, deodorant, insecticide, parasitic, stimulant and tonic.

Uses:

  1. Citronella oil is mostly used for repelling insects.
  2. It is also used in ridding dogs and cats of fleas.
  3. It clears the mind and tones the body.
  4. It may be helpful in the case of flu, cold and minor infections.
  5. It also has deodorizing qualities.

Precautions:

  • It may irritate skin.

Blends well with:

Bergamot, Geranium, Lemon, Lavender, Orange and Pine.
