Properties:
Pimento essential oil has odour similar to cloves. It is yellow brown in colour. It in thin in consistency.

Origin:
It originated in Jamaica, WestIndies.

Extraction Method:
Pimento oil is extracted from its leaves by the process of steam distillation.

Chemical composition:
Eugenol, menthyl eugenol, cineol, phellandrene and caryophyllene.

Therapeutic properties:
Anesthetic, analgesic, antioxidant, antiseptic, carminative, muscle relaxant, rubefacient, stimulant and tonic.

Uses:

  1. Pimento oil can be helpful for the digestive system, for cramp, flatulence, indigestion and nausea. 
  2. It can also help in cases of depression, nervous exhaustion, tension, neuralgia and stress.

Precautions:

  • Pimento Leaf essential oil can irritate mucous membranes, and should be used only in dilution.
  • It can be a dermal irritant.

Blends well with:

Ginger, Geranium, Lavender, Orange, Patchouli and Ylang-ylang.
