Properties:
Spearmint essential oil has a fresh minty smell reminiscent of Peppermint but is sweeter. It is pale yellow with a slight green tinge. It has a light consistency.

Origin:
It originated from the United States.

Extraction Method:
It is extracted from flowering tops using steam distillation.

Chemical composition:
A-pinene, b-pinene, carvone, 1,8-cineole, linalool, limonene, myrcene, caryophyllene and menthol.

Therapeutic properties:
Antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, cephalic, emmenagogue, insecticide, restorative and stimulant.

Uses:
Spearmint essential oil could be helpful in :

  2. exhaustion
  3. fever
  4. flatulence
  5. headache
  6. nausea
  7. scabies
  8. vertigo

Precautions:

  • It is considered a non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing oil.

Blends well with:

Basil, Birch, Bergamot, Eucalyptus, Jasmine, Lavender and Rosemary.
