Properties:
Vetiver essential oil has an earthy, musty fragrance. It is a viscous oil having amber- olive colour.

Origin:
It originated in America.

Extraction Method:
Vetiver essential oil is extracted by steam distillation.

Chemical composition:
Benzoic acid, vetiverol, furfurol, a and b-vetivone, vetivene and vetivenyl vetivenate.

Therapeutic properties:
Antiseptic, aphrodisiac, cicatrisant, nervine, sedative, tonic, sedative and vulnerary.

Uses:

  1. Vetiver oil calms and soothes the mind and helps with hysteria and irritability. Stress and tension can be reduced.
  2. It revitalizes the body and helps with mental and physical exhaustion.
  3. It is also used for aches and pains like for rheumatism, arthritis and muscular pain.

Precautions:

  • It is considered a safe oil and is non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing.

Blends well with:

Cedarwood, Chamomile, Frankincense, Ginger, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender, Lemongrass, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood, Spikenard, Vanilla, and Ylang Ylang.
