Properties:
Vetiver essential oil has an earthy, musty fragrance. It is a viscous oil having amber- olive colour.
Origin:
It originated in America.
Extraction Method:
Vetiver essential oil is extracted by steam distillation.
Chemical composition:
Benzoic acid, vetiverol, furfurol, a and b-vetivone, vetivene and vetivenyl vetivenate.
Therapeutic properties:
Antiseptic, aphrodisiac, cicatrisant, nervine, sedative, tonic, sedative and vulnerary.
Uses:
- Vetiver oil calms and soothes the mind and helps with hysteria and irritability. Stress and tension can be reduced.
- It revitalizes the body and helps with mental and physical exhaustion.
- It is also used for aches and pains like for rheumatism, arthritis and muscular pain.
Precautions:
- It is considered a safe oil and is non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing.
Blends well with:
Cedarwood, Chamomile, Frankincense, Ginger, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender, Lemongrass, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood, Spikenard, Vanilla, and Ylang Ylang.
